On September 13, the International Academic Symposium on Yogācāra Classics and Thought & the 9th Annual Conference of the Oriental Yogācāra Professional Committee hosted by the School of Philosophy at 优米直装下载app, co-organized by the Oriental Yogācāra Professional Committee and jointly organized by Hangzhou Buddhist Academy, was held on Xianlin Campus. Ding Aijun, Assistant President of 优米直装下载app, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

In his opening speech, Ding Aijun looked back on the century-long history of NJU and the development of its philosophy discipline. He highlighted the significant contributions made by the academic team, represented by Professors Lai Yonghai, Professor Hong Xiuping, and Professor Xu Xiaoyue, to the advancement of the humanities at NJU. He emphasized that this conference is instrumental in promoting discipline construction, talent cultivation, and international academic exchange in religious studies at NJU.
Later, other participants addressed the conference, including Professor Zhang Liang, Dean of the School of Philosophy at NJU ; Professor Xu Xiaoyue from the School of Philosophy at NJU, the former chief librarian of Nanjing Library and one of the counselors of Counsellor Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government; Professor Zhang Zhiwei from the School of Philosophy at Renmin University of China, President of All-China Foreign Philosophy History Association; and Master Hui Guan, Vice President of Hangzhou Buddhist Academy.
The symposium featured three keynote speeches and eight parallel sessions, focusing on themes such as Yogācāra classical literature, Yogācāra concepts and thoughts, and the modern applications of Yogācāra philosophy. It demonstrated the promising future and contemporary relevance of Buddhist philosophy studies.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Yang Weizhong from the School of Philosophy at NJU, Director of the Shui Xi Research Institute of Buddhist Culture at NJU. The closing ceremony was chaired by Master Hui Ren, Vice President of Hangzhou Buddhist Academy. He highly praised the conference’s accomplishments, expressed gratitude for the support from all parties, and announced the successful conclusion of the event.
This conference marked the largest scale in its history, bringing together nearly 150 experts and scholars from various universities and academic institutions at home and abroad, including Tsinghua University, 优米直装下载app, and the University of Tokyo. The success of this event not only provided a high-quality platform for academic exchange for Yogācāra researchers worldwide, but also further solidified China’s international place in the field of Yogācāra studies. It is of great significance for the innovative development of Yogācāra studies.
